We All Love Purple!

If you've landed here, there is no doubt in my mind that you love purple as much as we do here at PURPLEologist! We think, work, live, wear, sell and breathe purple and yes, somedays we eat purple, too!

Ha ha! How's that for surrounding ourselves with the most fun color in the color wheel? 

Eating Healthy Purple Fruits and Vegetables

Eating purple food is not too hard to do and it's recommended to vary up your food colors so that you get many different benefits.

"According to U.S. Department of Agriculture, purple foods contain important nutrients called anthocyanins, which are responsible for the purple, blue and red colors of some fruits. As an antioxidant, anthocyanin protects against cell damage from free radicals." (source: Livestrong.com)

We thought it would be fun to round up a few scrumptious sweet purple recipes so you can eat purple, too, whenever you want!

So today, we are sharing sweet and purple (dessert-type) recipes!

Purple Pan Cake Recipes

We found two purple pancake recipes we wanted to share. Why two? Because sometimes you want to be healthy, sometimes you need to be quick! 

First up; the healthy version with purple derived from beets! (they promise you don't taste the beets...)

Next; the simple version. Pancake mix with blue and red food coloring added to make the pancakes purple! (may we suggest adding fresh blueberries in addition and they'll look great)

As with the pancakes, we went looking for several version of a purple cake for different bakers. We know sometimes, maybe for a baby shower or wedding shower, you want to go all-out. Then other times, when you know your cake will be devoured in <5 minutes by a group of 4 year olds who don't really know the difference between a store bought cake and a home made cake; you want the easy version. Their only requirement is that's it's purple, right?!

First up; the scrumptious and pretty version. Looks like it's made by a bakery and from what we can gather, it will taste like it, too!
